Coldplay – Selling Like Hotcakes

LONDON (Reuters) – Coldplay sold 125,000 copies of its new album on the first day of release in Britain, a solid tally industry experts say should be music to the band’s ears and those of its ailing record label EMI.

“Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends” now looks “certain” to top Sunday’s album chart, according to The Official Charts Company which tracks record sales, even though it was released on Thursday rather than at the start of the week.

“Coldplay are an international act … and these sales figures in the UK are the first indication of how the album will be received, and EMI will be very pleased,” said The Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot.

“X&Y,” Coldplay’s last album and most successful to date, sold 465,000 copies in its first week in Britain.

EMI, and its boss Guy Hands, will now turn their attention to the world’s biggest music market in the United States, a more important barometer of the album’s success when it is released there next week.

Les dejo el segundo trabajo en solitario de Mr. Albert Hammond Jr aka. Mr. Stroke, guitarrista de esta banda, lo cual nos hace indicar que no habra material de de ellos por un tiempo (Mientras Jules colabora con Converse). Albert nos presenta un material muy su estilo, es simplemente muy The Strokes manteniendo un poco de melancolía, melodías sencillas y agradable al oído.

Mi comentario es: Si quieres sentir como si The Strokes tiene un nuevo material escúchalo…. Vale la pena escuchar lo que Albert Hammond esta presentando, pues es bien sabido que es gran guitarrista y productor. Aclaro también que no esta presentando un disco malo, es simplemente sencillo, pero esta corriendo el riesgo en caer en efectos de la crítica con la definición de plano y sin nada nuevo de propuesta. Pero vuelvo a aclarar si te gustan The Strokes te va gustar. Y debo decir que a mi me gustó el material, porque es una banda que me encanta (pese a que haya salido despues de ellos una ola de grupos clones usando el THE antes de su nombre) ellos son los que impusieron su estilo particular en sus trabajos.

El Sencillo del material es GfC y el trabajo completo fue lanzado el día 7 de Junio 2008
